Dear Parents, Grandparents and Students,
On Saturday 20 October 2018 is our STUDENTS EDUCATION EXCURSION to the Planetarium, Western Sydney University Penrith Observatory.
We will be traveling by bus and will be back to school approximately no later than 2pm.
Please be at school at 8.15am. The bus will be leaving at 8.30am. Please do not be late.
All children have to wear the school T-shirt.
The parents who will be traveling to the Planetarium with their children please read relevant information about the parking and correct location.
Please arrive in the Planetarium – Observatory no later than 9.40am.
The parking permit is only for parents who already have informed us that they will be traveling with their own children plus 4 of our teachers.
Please print the parking permit and display with your name and the name of the school: North Shore Polish Saturday School - Parking P1.
Please provide lunch for the children. I have purchased 100 small bottles of water as the weather could be quite warm and no food is for sale at the Planetarium-Conservatorium so dear parents and teachers please bring your lunch as well. (Coffee will be at the observatory)
Lunch will be at 12.10pm
Program will run from 10am to 12pm.
Hands on Workshop (Rockets) – 2 hour program
• Multimedia presentation
• Short 3D astronomy movie
• Build and launch paper rockets using compressed air, watch a model rocket launch
• Safe viewing of the sun through appropriately filtered telescopes (weather permitting)
• Tour of the dome area and 0.6m telescope

Dear Parent, Grandparents and Students,
Please note that we have normal classes on Saturdays 22nd and 29th of September followed by two weeks of school holidays from 6th to13th October.
29th September - normal classes including a 45minutes lesson by Dr Lucyna Kędziera-Chudczer, Research Fellow from the School of Physics and Astrophysics at the NSW University in preparation for the school excursion to the Planetarium.
On Saturday 20th October we will have our Education Excursion to the Planetarium.
I understand all parents have already booked and secured the place for their children for excursion. If not please email me as soon as possible as we have to finalise our reservation. Regarding Planetarium transport (bus) more information will follow before 20th October.

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER
1 September - School closed due to Teacher Development Day
Our teachers will be attending Polish Community Schools Conference on the Saturday 1 Sept – Sunday 2 September 2018 in Sydney. This conference is a great opportunity for Polish teachers to participate in different professional development workshops which will be conducted by Australian presenters and also academics from Poland. The presentations will cover current policy and practice strategy for community language schools and will provide all the Polish language teachers in Sydney with a unique opportunity of professional development tailored to their very specific needs related to teaching Polish language in the Australian context.
15 September - 30th Anniversary of our school at Macquarie Theatre, Macquarie University arriving 3.30 pm for official commencement at 4.00 pm.
29 September - normal classes plus lessons with Dr Lucyna Kędziora-Chudczer, Research Fellow from the school of Physics and Astrophysics at the NSW University in preparation for excursion to the Planetarium.
6th-13th October - School Holiday
20 October- Educational Excursion to the Planetarium by bus - more information to follow.
10 November - Polish National Independence Day with the celebration at St Mary's Cathedral at 10am in City for those who would like to attend.
1 December - End of School Year Presentation co-coordinated by parents: Ela Sircelj and Patrycja Sissons
