North Shore Polish (Saturday) School opened in February 1988...
Short history of NSPS
The first lessons at North Shore Polish Saturday School took place in the beautiful setting of a small church in Roseville in 1988. Within a few months, the children were studying under the auspices of Macquarie University, thanks to the initiative of Dr. Edward Ronowicz, then head of Polish Studies at the university, and thanks to a passionate and energetic group of parents, including Janusz Fibrich, the school's first principal, and his wife, Teresa.
Elizabeth Cesarski, our current principal, has been the guiding heart of the school since 1991. She was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit, and no wonder – because Ela's motto is "szkoła to moje serce" ("the school is my heart").
After 18 years at Macquarie University Campus, the school moved to its current location at North Ryde Public School.

Our Mission Today and Always
|
As a community language school, we are dedicated to fostering a vibrant Polish-speaking community in Sydney, and for our school to provide engaging classes for children, emphasizing cultural connection and heritage, while building lifelong language skills.
We invite families, from both Polish and different cultural backgrounds, to become part of our supportive community, where language learning is more than just classes—it’s about building a shared cultural heritage that lasts a lifetime. Together, we can continue to celebrate Polish language, culture, and community, ensuring that the next generation remains connected to their roots and can speak to Babcia and Dziadek with confidence. |
All parents and guardians who wish to help in the classrooms must obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance number to comply with the NSW government legislation. All teachers, staff and volunteers at our school must provide management with a WWCC permit number prior to commencing any child related activities.
