On Saturday Oct 14 our School Principal, Elizabeth Cesarski with
school teachers: Ania Kalisiak, Beata Grubiak, Hanna Biłyk and Marzena Stankiewicz participated in the annual Community Language Conference at the University of Sydney. The conference workshops offer new teaching ideas and a great opportunity for networking with other community schools in NSW. Below you will find a short video from the formal part of the conference and a message sent by Albert Vella, President of NSW FCLS. |
Dear Member Schools and Organisations
The NSW Federation of Community Language Schools is an organisation made up of a family of many languages and cultures. We have a unique opportunity in Australia and here in NSW in the support of both the Federal and NSW State Governments to teach so many languages from our countries of origin.
The support given by the NSW State Government is assisting so many communities, families and students. They provide funding, training and schools to allow us to teach 56 languages.
The Community Languages conference being planned for Saturday 4 October is our opportunity to demonstrate the strength of the community language school sector in NSW. We already have a good number of people attending however there are a number of languages that do not have representation on the day.
All languages and communities no matter how large or small are all equally valued and supported by the NSW Federation of Community Language Schools.
This year’s conference is very important because it is leading into an election year and it would be a show of strength and unity if more schools and communities could send delegates to the conference as we are lobbying for a funding increase.
The organisers of the conference endeavour every year to have new and interesting workshops and presenters on the day to ensure that you have every opportunity to gain new skills and ideas to make your community language schools a more interesting place so that your students want to come to attend.
We have Minister Victor Dominello, the Shadow Minister for Education Ryan Park and a host of other dignitaries coming on the morning for the opening session and this our chance to raise and promote our schools and communities just like the very successful annual dinner held in July
We look forward to your attendance at the conference
Kind Regards
Albert Vella
