Polish Book Day

Last Saturday we celebrated the Polish Book Day, as part of the Australian Book Week celebrations. 📚
Parents were invited to the classrooms and read to their children their family's favorite Polish book, poems from Tuwim, the adventures of Bolk and Lolk, the Schachrajk Flea, Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, Masuria on a Journey and even a book about the great Polish footballer Lewandowski! ⚽
The Polish book exchange was also planned, which will however take place next week, because reading books inspired very interesting conversations which we continued for the rest of the morning.
To top off the day, there was a parade of students dressed up as their favorite book characters. As every year, the most popular were superheroes, but there were also princesses, pirate costumes and a super cute caterpillar. 🐛

Polish Children’s Day Incursion

To celebrate Children’s Day, our students received beautiful educational toys: Lego blocks and robot building sets. The gifts were purchased thanks to the financial support of Konsulat Generalny RP w Sydney in cooperation with Poland and Poles abroad, thank you very much!  The kids were delighted.
Students also had a unique chance to learn about Lego from Mr. Tomasz, who has been working for Lego in Poland for 8 years (and joined us virtually from Poland at 3am!).
He shared many interesting facts about production – how it looks, where the blocks come from, why sometimes there are more small parts, how to order the lost blocks from the series, how the quality department is run and that the novelties on the market are strictly protected and tested by employees to make everything work.

Mother’s Day Morning Tea

Our school hosted our lovely Mums today with delicious pączki (Polish donuts) for all Mums and children, student performances and handmade korale – traditional Polish bead and fabric necklaces made in class by students.
Some Mums secretly wiped happy tears as they watched the children present songs, poems and handmade gifts.
On the day, students also presented their Sydney Zoo Excursion projects – “About my favourite animal”.
There was also a photobooth with plenty of fun opportunities to capture memories of this special day!

Educational Zoo Excursion

Thanks to an educational grant, our students had a very special day at our Saturday school today, namely a trip to Sydney Zoo.🐒🦊🦁
The excitement reached its peak already upon entering the bus, after half an hour we were there!
We started with interesting workshops, during which we learned how many eggs a turtle lays 🐢, why the tail and head of a lizard are so similar, and which animals have blue tongues. But the most fun was petting a snake, a turtle and a lizard! Later we spent a few hours visiting the zoo and looking at different animals lions 🦁 hyenas, elephants 🐘, tigers 🐅, kangaroos, monkeys 🐵 etc etc For some, it was also the first opportunity to take a look at capybaras and hyenas.
The students were then off to complete a special project in class about the animals they’ve seen. This was an amazing trip. We even got to hear some of the kids say it was their favorite day 💗 Thank you to the sponsors!

Easter Fete & Bake Sale

NSPS Easter Fest was a blast!
Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us yesterday! There was painting of Easter eggs, Easter crafts and delicious cakes, and a surprise from the weather – Śmigus-Dyngus in the preview version. We will catch up with the sports games on another date!
A big thank you to the parents of class P. Bejnar for the great organisation and to everyone who baked cakes, babki and mazurki – they were delicious!
So glad we got to spend this time together! Plus we raised over $450 for the school too at the bake sale!
